RMAF A-4PTM Skyhawk 1984-1995

In 1982, Malaysia purchased 80 refurbished A-4C and A-4L under a modernization program called PERISTA. 40 of the airframes was upgraded with Hughes AN/ASB-19 Angle Rate Bombing System, air refueling capability and increase payload, while the rest was kept in United States as a reserve and for spare parts. This modified version was redesignated as A-4PTM (peculiar to Malaysia).

The aircraft was delivered to Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) on December 1984 where it served under the No.6 and No.9 RMAF Squadron at Kuantan air base. While in service, it suffered a maintenance problem and high accident rate. In 1995, It was finally retired and replaced with BAE Systems Hawk.





RMAF DHC-4A CARIBOU 1958-1998

No 1 Squadron SQN was established in 1958 by using DHC Caribou aircraft donated by Canadian Army.

No 1 SQN using motto "THE FIRST" as being SKN first commissioned in the RMAF. SQN initially been operating in Kuala Lumpur Air Base before being transferred to Labuan Air Base in support of Army operations in Zone Malaysia Sabah and Sarawak. Then it was again transferred to Kuching Air Base.

Due to the difficulty in obtaining spare parts of aircraft, coupled with the frequency of accidents involving aircraft, the air force has decided to discontinue service Caribou aircraft in 1998.
